Are you posting the correct score?

I just found out that I've been posting my scores incorrectly for a long time now. I always thought that my index was the basis for determining the maximum number of strokes I could take and post on any given hole. I assumed as long as my index stayed at 9.9 or lower that a double bogey was the maximum I could post. WRONG! The Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) is based on your COURSE handicap and NOT your handicap index. Once my handicap index hit 8.9 from the Blue tees, my course handicap became a 10 which meant I could now post a 7 on any hole..........including Par 3's  :-(

Here's how your index relates to the maximum number of strokes you can take for handicap posting purposes from the various tees at Tradition. The charts below show the various break points for Handicap Index that raises your course handicap and the maximum strokes you can take.

For example: an index of 9.3 to 18.9  playing from the Red Tees has a Tradition course handicap of 19 and can take a maximum of 7 strokes. As soon as that index hits 19.0, the course handicap goes to a 20 and the maximum stroke count goes to 8.

NOTE: These only apply to Tradition's slope ratings.
